How to Read a Survey

1. Property Info

Included in the property info section will be the information about the property’s location including: address. neighbourhood, Lot #, Block #, City and County

2. Legend

The legend is provided as an explanatory table of all symbols used on the survey map.

3. Bearings & Distance

The boundaries of a property consist of “calls”, Each call consists of direction (bearings) and distance (feet),

4. Compass

The compass shows the direction the property is facing. North will always be indicated on the compass.

5. Notes & Exceptions

Any notes about the survey or exceptions affecting the property will be included here.

6. Surveyor Name & Date

Information regarding the surveyor and surveying company that performed the survey. Surveyor’s signature and Registered Public Land Surveyor license number should appear.
